#Blog4Trek The Second Round + Photos From The Out-takes

You might have seen my post a few weeks ago about what I would pack for a weekend away. That was my entry to Trek America’s search for their next blogger and to win a trip to America. Somehow I made it into the top ten finalists – I guess wittering on about how scared I would be to visit the moon worked!

Now I’m in the second round and we’re about to be cut down to just five bloggers. We were asked to take a photo of something red, white, and blue, in keeping with the all American theme.

It’s been all I could think about all week. Red, white, and blue was starting to creep into my dreams at night. I was spotting that colour combo in so many places I had never noticed before. I had a pretty busy week, what with end of term deadlines approaching, so I made sure to keep my camera on me for any possible chance to take a photo.

It took a lot of deliberating but I decided to go with this photo. It’s taken at the cinema I work at on campus and it was actually from the first set of photos I took. I get it. There’s the familiarity of knowing what to expect when everything around you is different. There’s also the excitement of seeing what is different about them – what different food do they sell? The genius that is McDelivery in Thailand. The Double Big Mac. The novelty of being able to buy alcohol in one. Or just being able to say that you’ve been to a McDonald’s in 20 different countries. Yeah, I get it.

But I don’t do it. In fact, I didn’t think I did anything similar to that at all until I realised this summer, that quite by accident, I’ve been collecting Via Via cafes.

Unusual Things I Do Miss About Travelling

Okay, so I have a confession. When I wrote 10 Things I Definitely Don’t Miss About Travelling to make myself feel better and get over the travel blues, I actually managed to think of lots of things I do miss. There were plenty of instances where something I thought would niggle at me was in fact an enjoyable part of my trip. So I made a note of all these little things and here they are, the unusual things I miss from my trip to Central America. Continue reading

10 Things I Definitely Don’t Miss About Travelling

When you’re full of the travel blues and looking back over your holiday photos with rose tinted glasses, it can be hard to remember that sometimes, just sometimes, there actually are some crappy times when you’re away. Here’s my list of what I don’t miss from my trip in Central America this summer, in an effort to convince myself that, yes, I would much rather be sat inside on a rainy September English day.

Possibly the only picture of me looking grumpy whilst travelling in existence…
